Tips to Make the Most of Your Visit to Dow Gardens!

PURCHASE A PASS:  While regular adult daily admission is $5.00 (kids 6-17 are just $1.00 and 5 and under are free), an annual pass, only $10.00 per individual, provides year-round access to the garden and many of our great events including lunchtime concerts, outdoor movie nights, story time, and festivals such as Butterflies in Bloom. Additionally, the passes are transferable! You can give them to an out-of-town guest,  family member, or colleague to use for the day.

DRESS FOR ADVENTURE:  We’re open all year with the exception of Christmas, Thanksgiving, and New Years Day! Your visit will be primarily outdoors, so please wear comfortable clothing, and be prepared for varying weather conditions. Wagons and strollers are welcome. Please, no skateboards, rollerblades, or bicycles.

STAY FUELED:  Dow Gardens does not have an onsite cafe. However, picnic lunches are welcome. Guests may choose to bring a blanket or utilize a picnic table, which are available on a first come first serve basis. Larger groups are encouraged to make reservations at one of our amazing local restaurants.  For your convenience, beverages are available in our Dow Garden’s gift shop.  Drinking fountains are located in the Conservatory and Children’s Garden.

TAKE A PICTURE  Photography is welcome and encouraged! Photographers must comply with the general rules of the garden.  Please avoid walking in flower beds and water features. Remain on the pathway or grassy turf at all times. Feel free to share your photos on Instagram using #dowgardens, and be sure to enter our annual photo contest for a chance to be featured on our admission card.

ACCESSIBILITY:  Dow Gardens has over one mile of barrier-free hard-surface pathway.  Three standard wheelchairs are available, to reserve, at no charge. Four motorized wheelchairs may be reserved, in advance, at a cost of $5.00 each.  Call 989.631.2677 for reservation information.

TAKE A SELF-GUIDED TOUR: Learn a few fascinating facts about the garden and its history as you wander at your own pace. There is no additional charge for this tour. Dial 989.484.9064, on your mobile device, and enter a number on the Dow Gardens Map followed by the pound key.

GIVE AND LEARN:  Hundreds of dedicated volunteers help at Dow Gardens throughout the year.  There are opportunities for a wide array of interests. Volunteers are essential for special events like the annual Christmas Walk and Butterfly exhibit. In the summer, volunteers work side by side with Dow Gardens staff members tending the garden. Contact our volunteer liaison to learn about current opportunities!
