Downtown Harbor Springs

The Harbor Springs area is a year ’round destination with activities galore. We have been welcoming visitors since the late 1800s when passenger ships arrived at our docks filled with passengers waiting to create summer memories. Today, our visitors and summer residents come to Harbor Springs because our spectacular location on Little Traverse Bay provides a glorious setting as well as recreational opportunities for swimming, boating, fishing, sailing, and water sports.

What will you find in downtown Harbor Springs? The downtown business district hugs the water. Our many shops and restaurants will delight you. Stop into one of our coffee shops for a cup of coffee, grab a bite to eat in one of our many restaurants, and then head for the waterfront to watch the boat action. Shop ’til you drop? Absolutely, in Harbor Springs where our shops and galleries are filled with incredible merchandise.

No matter what time of year you choose to visit Harbor Springs, there are many activities to await you. Spring is known for morel mushroom hunting and the glorious carpet of trillium flowers that blanket the woods. Fall has spectacular fall foliage and no where is that more spectacular than the Tunnel of Trees drive along M-119 that begins in Harbor Springs. Winter is a wonderland – we have two ski resorts, miles and miles of cross country ski and snowmobile trails, and snow that is meant for playing.

Summer, ahhh, summer! This is the season that draws guests to our area again and again. With our moderate temperatures and outdoor activities like golf, boating, sailing, fishing, biking, golfing, hiking, kayaking, and more, there is something for everyone outdoors. Add to that shopping, dining, festivals, an art fair, a July 4th celebration that goes from dawn to dusk, Ugotta Regatta, just to name a few, Harbor Springs is the place to celebrate summer.
